Stepping out of the police station it would have been fair to say that Allen was not feeling especially optimistic. As it turned out, the list had been quite extensive and really there was a lack of confidence in him that anything was truly going to come of this. Allen maintained to himself that there was no way Lenalee, or Link, would have vanished without saying something and neither of them were weak enough to go down without a fight and leave some sign behind. But there had been no word of anything unusual, nothing damaged in the local area, no noise, nothing.
Allen had stayed rather quiet in the station, speaking only when he was addressed or needed to answer a question, but otherwise he was suitably distracted. It wasn't until they were outside again, after heaving a quiet sigh to himself, that Allen realised that he must have been being very rude to his company. After all without the professor's help he likely wouldn't have been in a position to convince the police officers that these missing people were actually worthwhile enough to file missing persons reports for.
Turning a quick smile toward the older man, Allen cleared his throat to speak.
"Thank you taking the time and energy to come with me, Professor. I really appreciate it, especially when I'm sure you have other things to do with your time."
