Kazuma had had a rough night, so he felt no qualms about sleeping late. When he finally did drag himself out of bed, it was well into the afternoon. After getting dressed, he headed down to the kitchen to scrounge something to eat. He wasn't quite sure what he'd done to make the housekeeper hate him on sight, but rather than spend too much time at the mercy of her evil-eye, he quickly slapped together a sandwich and headed outside. Since it seemed like he'd be stuck here for awhile, he might as well take a look around; see the sights, ride the rides, and all that.

He made it as far as the back yard. Upon seeing another one of the house's inhabitants--or at least, he assumed he was since the stranger was on the grounds--he paused for a moment. So far, the others he'd met here had been a mixed bag; some were okay, some were jackasses. He didn't really feel like dealing with another one of the latter sort at the moment. But just in case this guy wasn't an asshole, he supposed he could at least say hello.

"Hey," he said, nodding to the stranger. "You just get here last night, too?"

Daisya looked up at the voice and lifted a hand to wave at the newcomer. "Hey," he greeted. "Me? No, I've been here... uh, a long damn time now. Few weeks. I was one of th' first." It was a bit disconcerting, how used to this place he was starting to become... his talk with Taylor had helped a lot with that, and his friendship with George was rapidly becoming something he counted on to get him through the day. "Name's Daisya Barry... 'm an Exorcist, if you've already ran into someone who told you what that was- prob'ly from my world."

"Weeks, huh? Oh man..." There was good news... It was beginning to sound like he really would be here indefinitely. Not the happiest of thoughts. At least the guy wasn't acting like a dick. Yet. That was something.

"Daisya..." He repeated the name as if committing it to memory--although whether or not it would actually stick was anyone's guess. "I'm Kazuma, and...uh...no, didn't really get around to swapping job information with anybody last night."

After a moment, he sat down on the ground, taking a bit of his sandwich and chewing thoughtfully. "An Exorcist, huh? Like those guys in that movie? Casting out demons and all that sorta shit?"

"Kazuma, got it," Daisya replied with a slow nod. He didn't usually make a habit of being a jerk- Daisya was much more laid-back than the majority of his comrades, it seemed like, though he still didn't know Allen or Link well- at all, really. "Demons, yeah, somethin' like that." He didn't really want to go into the whole thing at the moment, so he just left it at that.

"So y'just got here, huh? Bet you're dyin' t'have some questions answered," he pointed out. "I'll help t'answer them if y'want."

Kazuma just nodded at Daisya's explanation without asking anything more. He usually didn't poke his nose into other people's business unless he had a good reason to do so--which he didn't in this case.

"Heh. Well, I think I got the basics last night." Holding up his free hand, he counted off the points as he spoke. "We're pretty much stuck here in the past. In the States. With no way to get home. Right?"

Pausing, he took another bite of his sandwich. "I guess my main question right now is what's everybody doing to try and get back to wherever they came from?"

"'s actually in th' future for me," Daisya replied, laughing. "It was 1899 when I got sucked here, so... there's a lotta stuff here that looks real different t'me. I mean, it's all stuff I woulda seen in my lifetime..." He trailed off. It would have been, anyway, had he managed to stay alive that long. Anyway, it didn't bear thinking about now, so he continued on.

"No way t'get home that I know of. As for what we're doin', right now we're keepin' th' professors safe while they study that artifact." Daisya shrugged. "So far we've had one attack on th' house... these nasty spirit things, 'm not even sure what they were. I can take 'em out with my Charity Bell, but 's power's weakened."

"1899, huh... man, that's even farther back than that other guy I was talking to. It was 2002 back where I'm from." He too let the subject drop as any talk of home would probably lead into areas he didn't really want to go into at the moment. Instead, he listened while Daisya continued to speak of what the other...newcomers, for want of a better word, had been doing up to this point--until something in particular his companion said piqued his interest.

"Charity Bell? What's that?"

"2002? Damn." Daisya's eyes widened- he couldn't imagine anything that far in the future. He wondered what kind of things Kazuma had seen and experienced, but decided those questions should probably be left for later. In answer to the question Kazuma asked, Daisya lifts the chain around his neck that the Charity Bell is now strung on, since he wasn't wearing his uniform. It made him stand out too damn much.

"This," he replied with a brief grin. "It's my weapon. We call it Innocence." He knew it wouldn't make any sense and he was prepared to answer questions- even demonstrate. There was nothing he loved more than showing off.

"That's a weapon?" Although the question probably came out more blunt than he intended it to, Kazuma wasn't belittling it--most people tended to dismiss his own Alter as unimpressive...until they got a taste of it, so he knew better than to judge by appearances. He was simply curious as to how a bell could be used as a weapon.

A slow grin slanted across his face. "How's it work?" He got the impression that Daisya was dying to show it off...and this was very much an area of interest to him, after all.

"Heh, you bet your ass it is." Daisya gets up and stretches. "You'll notice your weapon won't work as well here either, if it's got powers or anythin'... but I'll show ya."

He takes several steps away and leaps into the air as he activates the Charity Bell, which breaks away from the cord he's got it tied on. It works like a soccer ball- a soccer ball with incredible range and strength- that blasts through its targets, and then Daisya can use sonic resonance to cause them to explode. Its powers here are limited, which he demonstrates by sending it spinning through a rather small tree- it makes a hole in the trunk and he snaps his fingers, and it's just barely enough to splinter the trunk and topple the tree to the ground.

"Works pretty well on th' ghoul things that showed up a couple weeks ago," Daisya says, nodding as it returns to him and he puts his foot on it, turning to face Kazuma with a grin. "Nowhere near full power, but... 'm not gonna complain since it works."

Kazuma frowned slightly at the statement that Daisya's power--or any power, for that matter--didn't work well here. He...didn't much like the sound of that, and as soon as he was able, he would try and find somewhere reasonably secluded to see how well his Alter had survived the trip.

That was all to be dealt with later, however. For now, he watched with interest as Daisya put his Charity Bell through its paces. Even though it apparently wasn't at full power, it still looked impressive enough to him; and as his companion had said, it worked. Hopefully, his own power would work at least that well.

"Pretty cool," he said, returning the other's grin. "So...uhh...do all you guys have powers like that?"

[OOC: Sorry I've been so slow. It's been kind of a crappy week.]

"Yeah," Daisya replied, deactivating the Bell and putting it back on its cord for use later- if necessary. "'s all different, though, an' it all does different stuff. Kanda's got a sword, Lavi's got a hammer, Lenalee's got her Boots... just sorta depends on who you're talkin' to, yeah? I don't think most of 'em would show off, though." He grinned. That was something that typically he was accused of doing. "Lavi might."

((ooc; no worries, it definitely took me over a week to get to this. :x /slooowbear))
