He has a fine voice, but he wasn't going to win the competition. He needs a band behind him, and the voice doesn't stand well without it.

He's got a hint of Joe Cocker in his voice, which is kinda diminishing my enjoyment of it, but I think he could work well as a country singer or a power pop singer... but either way, he needs a band to flush out his vocals.
