Ok. I have been a Jennifer Nettles fan for many, many years. I have loved her since Soul Miners Daughter. I was proud when she went on to do her solo project because she wanted more creative control. Jennifer even made it up to Knoxville a few times. She is this tiny little spirit from Georgia with this HUGE voice. She was kinda jazzy, kinda folky and kinda rock. My dad called her a Southern Janis Joplin. Just FUCKING AMAZING. I have never seen someone with such stage presence and confidence. Well, her new band decided to split to go to school and get married etc...Before this happened, she began doing a side project. SUGARLAND. Oh my, Sugarland. I bought this CD not knowing what it was about. I vowed to support her no matter what. I get it. I listen and I was like YIKES. Her voice is still amazing, but I guess you would call this band "alternative country." Very Twaingy. This band is composed of some great Georgia artists (from what I hear). It still pains me to listen to it. I can't take Honkey Tonking It. I check out her website. Nothing New. I check out Sugarland's website for shits and giggles and BAM. They have been signed by MCA records. Hooray for them. Then I see that they are opening for Dwight Yokham (shivering in my chair). I am glad she is signed and will be recognized for talents world wide (Although, it pains me that she will get this recognition on CMT). At Least I still have her Soul Miners Daughter and Jennifer Nettles cd's to keep me going.
