Man, in the days when most college football players and professional athletes manage to pull off the seemingly impossible balancing act of being simultaneously thugs AND prima donnas, thank God for Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy!
These two badasses (the quarterbacks of Florida and Texas, respectively) are the kind of role models kids need: humble, team-oriented leaders who pour their heart into every game, compete fiercely, and never give up. They both remind me of some rustic, comic book American hero of old, embodying all sorts of noble ideals (even if they're both goofy Protestants, heh). I think Tebow is the best player in college football, and man, his
speech after his team's early season loss to Ole Miss was damn inspiring, so I'm rooting for him to win the Heisman. But man, McCoy is awesome too, on the field and off. Apparently he volunteers tutoring and reading stories to underprivileged kids three times a week... and, get this, he once swam 300 yards across a lake and saved a man's life! How awesome is that?
