People Suck!!
Okay, this is just a small entry. But why can't people learn to drive??! I was going to McDonald's to get lunch, and lazy ol' me, it's only a block away, but since I was bringing it back for people it'd be cold if I didn't drive. ANYhow... I turned right out onto the main street, then had to turn left at an intersection to get to the McDonald's driveway. The light was green, and I was stopped, waiting for cars to pass. Just so you know, there were signals for the turn lane that flash red until the other lights turn red, then I get a green arrow to go after they stop. Anyhow, I see this nice break in the cars coming up, and I was getting ready to time it, but I noticed the light was turning yellow anyhow. There were only two cars left, but they were a while back when the light was turning yellow. (no cars in front of them for a bit, but I waited for them anyhow) Now, most reasonable people would believe that these two cars would stop, seeing as how they were a good distance from the light when it was turning yellow, and so most reasonable people would probably turn because they were pretty sure those two cars would stop. Well it's a good thing I waited, because those two cars just ran right through a red light. I mean, my light was turning green when they were going through, so there is no reason not to think I wouldn't be the one to be going.
That was one big paragraph.... oh well! I'm just glad I was able to bring home food, and not die.
And while writing that one, I thought of another one later while I was getting dinner.... Geez.
Okay, this time I was going to Arby's. It was nighttime, semi-late in the night. There weren't all that many cars on the road, so it probably wasn't all THAT dangerous. I was going up this road, and there was another mile before we hit any major roads, so any traffic lights were only for smaller roads. Not that no one would be coming from those streets, but less than the major roads. Anyhow, there was this UPS-like truck next to me with this trailer behind it. I was following slightly behind. We hit this one light and stopped. This car was coming up behind us when it turned green again. He pulled ahead, and the car was coming up behind him. We were driving down the road a bit, and I was a good 1-2 car lengths behind the UPSish truck (in the other lane) Well, we came up to this other light that was just turning red. This car was speeding up behind the truck, got up behind it and saw it putting on it's brake lights, so it changed lanes, right in front of me, and started speeding ahead. It was when the idiot was in the middle of the intersection when he/she realized the brake lights went on because the light turned red. And like an idiot, after slamming on his/her brakes, just kept going. Luckily there was no one coming down that road, but I would have loved for a police car to have seen that!
So, I have this to say to people.... LEARN TO DRIVE!!!!
