Meadow Rue

"Meadow Rue"

Somewhere in the northern climes, nestled in the Norway pines
Is a place where you said you'd be my wife
A cottage we named Meadow Rue, that's where I fell in love with you
I've dreamed of you and Meadow Rue each hot, dark, lonely night.

Meadow Rue, I've seen the morning touch you
And brighten up your gentle hues
As I've longed to breathe the fragrance of your Hemlock woods.
Meadow Rue, the eagle flies above the pines
Beside the shed wisteria vines
Meadow Rue, I'll be coming home to you.

Countless years in this jungle cell has made my life a living hell
But the memory of your birches kept me sane
Under the stars of Meadow Rue, I swear I'll be making love to you
Soon enough you'll see that nothing's changed.

Was there ever a man from Vietnam, who loved as much this steamy land
Whose heart longed for its jungle trees and vines?
Well I hope that he has come back home, from wherever we made him roam
Meadow Rue does your water still taste like wine?

Meadow Rue, I've seen the morning touch you
And brighten up your gentle hues
As I've longed to breathe the fragrance of your Hemlock woods.
Meadow Rue, the eagle flies above the pines
Beside the shed wisteria vines
Meadow Rue, I'll be coming home to you.
