Remember the Words That You Said

"Remember the Words That You Said"

As the sun slowly slides by the willow
And sets in a sky oh so red
I see how the willow is weeping
And remember the words that you said
I remember the words that you said.

The words, they were different one morning
When the sky held the sun's gracious dawn
But last night the clouds hid hopeful stars
And by morning they were gone,
And by morning you were gone.

I could pack the old pickup and drive off
To a place yours thoughts haven't touched
But when I get there I'd find all of nothing
Cause I wouldn't be leaving with much,
No I wouldn't be leaving with much.

But can I blame you that I am so lonesome
As the snow that now covers the ground
My soul would be a leaf that's windblown
And falls without making a sound
It falls without making a sound.

Broken moonlight that shines through the willow
Shatters dreams as I lie in our bed
But like a tree I'll have to stand lonely
And remember the words that you said
I'll remember the words that you said
