I was 17 when the first national Moratorium was called against the Vietnam War (about 30,000 American troops were yet to die after that date). I took off from school and took a bus downtown. Thousands packed Niagara Square. I remember some cops coming at us on big motorcycles. Now my daughter is 17 and she and some friends went downtown to a protest against the invasion of Iraq (no, not a war against terrorism). I'm proud of her.
