I've just finished an amazing book,
Among Others by Jo Walton. Not only is the story entriguing, but the protagonist LOVES to read science fiction. The book is written in the form of a journal, and she does what most young readers do when they keep a journal--she writes about what she's reading and her thoughts on those books. Most of the books I hadn't read myself, but I was somewhat familiar with the authors. I did have to do some googling to learn a bit more about them because some of the books themes figured into the story very strongly. I just love how much she adored science fiction. She lived and breathed it. This is just a short list of the books she mentions. I didn't even get through 1/6 of the book. Her comments are in bold next to some of the ones that she particularly did or didn't like. I'd highly recommend this book if you, like me, consumed SF and fantasy as a teen. You'll definitely feel a connection with this character.
