(no subject)

One aspect of my job that I do enjoy, although I don't get to do it all that often, is to assign call numbers. Once in a while, I'll even get to assign that call number in OCLC, which means that libraries all across the world may utilize the call number I selected. I find it a satisfying challege to find the call number that will best catagorize the book, nestling into the shelf with books of the same subject. Because almost all the books in this library are in K classification (K=law), I have the opportunity to really try and hone in on the exact call number that will best suit the subject. Conversly, I find it very frustrating when I can't find an appropriate subject, or the call number I am forced to settle on his too vague for my satisfaction.

I'm becoming a cataloger whether I like it or not.
