I was messing with
Hunch a week or two ago and had been meaning to write an entry about it. It's a Twitter predictor game that predicts how you will answer their questions based on the information from your Twitter account. Not so surprisingly, it's pretty accurate. I think I did like 30 questions and it only got 2 or 3 wrong. Anyway, what really made me stop and think was when I got to the question "Do you believe in free will or determinism?"
I have no idea. I took a peek to see what the computer thinks I will say, and it said free will, but I think it's more accurate to say that I believe in a combination of the two. I definitely believe that the choices that we make do influence our lives, but at the same time, I also believe in fate. I believe that we are placed into certain situations, and while we have the ability to make the choices in those situations, how we got there in the first place might not have been a result of our own decisions. Don't need to have been alive for long to realize that so many things that happen are out of our control.
I guess I've been taking about this more than usual because I really want to believe that things happen for a reason. I think it's because some situations are beginning to leave me feeling hopeless. As much as I'm not a religious person, it definitely is much more comforting to think that there is a greater force out there that has plan for us...because sometimes I wonder, how else are we to believe that everything will work out in the end?
