Fictional Couples

What is it with me and my obsession with fictional couples? I’m more often obsessed with couples in a series than with the individual actors/characters. Is this normal? Louis and Jessica, Ross and Rachel, Jesse and Celine, Wilhelmina and Connor, Big and Carrie…When I was younger, I thought it was because I was a hopeless romantic and I envy the fabulously fictional undying love the characters have for each other. I’m beginning to realize that I’m not a hopeless romantic though. To be completely honest, I believe in practicality, not love. I don’t believe in fairytale endings or everlasting love. Like many modern girls, I believe in financial security. But god, when I see the romance and passion between certain couples in series, it gets me in such a gagaga state. It’s just so dreamy. It makes me want that passion and romance and connection with somebody, along with the financial security (although currently I’m just looking for fun, so just passion is quite alright).

So anyway, I’ve been watching a lot of TV lately so I can go on and on about shows, but I’ll just mention one particular one-Sex and the City. I know, I know, it’s extremely old, but I never followed it while it was on HBO since one, I never had HBO, and two, it started in 1998 and I was 11 then so I probably wouldn’t have gotten it anyway. I’ve seen a couple of episodes here and there when it was on TBS and I watched the movie when it came out, but I just got into the show recently and just finished it a couple of days ago. I love it <3 And I love Carrie and Big! They’re amazingly sweet and there are some really touching scenes between them. Such good chemistry. I want a guy like Mr. Big-well, kinda. Minus the whole taking six years and a marriage to another woman before he realizes he wants to be with you deal. Hmm...so I guess I don't want someone like Mr. Big. Anyway, I’m really excited for the second movie now, but they better not tear up my couple!

Sigh. Maybe I am a hopeless romantic after all.
