crazy Swiss cab driver inspires

A cab driver theologian shares his personal riff on the Lord's Prayer..turns it into something completely different and so much more sayable.. I never could understand the popularity of this prayer with even the most leftfield Christians..but I love this.

"I had to improve on it.. just had to.. what's this Our Father business? If God's a man, we're finished. And how about "which art in heaven"..wait a minute.. all of us are Here.

So what I say is "Holy Spirit, who is in us and among us, ".. and I drop the hallowed name bit because what does it mean?

"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done"..same problem...so what I say is "be with us, as we would be with you."

Then.."give us this day our daily bread"..I heard a guy say once we're not talking hamburgers here, we're talking spiritual food..I liked that.. so I left that bit in.

As for forgive us our trespasses.. just talk to my girlfriend- I had to leave that bit in.

But this lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil- what's the deal? We blame God for us doing bad things, and then again when bad things happen to us.. that's ridiculous, I dropped that bit.

Which just leaves "thine is the power and the glory for ever and ever Amen." no problem with that really, but it doesn't do much for me..so I say "thankyou for the blessing of life".

So that's-
Holy Spirit who is with us and among us
Be with us as we would be with you
Give us this day our daily bread
Forgive us our wrongs
Thankyou for the blessing of life.

Incidentally I got this here..

I just love these folks.
all the best people are unitarians..except the ones who are atheists, yes you- I mean it in all sincerity. Course the two-unitarians and atheists-are not mutually exclusive.
