You Don't Make Friends With Salad...or Durian

It's a beautiful Spring here in Australia - the sun is playful and while the flowers are blooming, the bees are still shy. I sit under my bedroom window and watch the yellow, the green forest of my garden and above - the clear blue sky. I sit here, door closed, breathing the fresh air even in my slight hay feverish state because dear god, the whole house smells like durian!

If you've never had the pleasure of smelling durian, you - my friend, should be very, very glad. It is seriously the spike-y, evil fruit of the devil - they also fucking hurt!

While I tried to air out the house, I've finally caught up on Community (I had nine episodes left to watch) and it is so freaking hilarious! The whole ensemble is like one delusional, deranged quirk and I love them! I think it goes without saying that Abed will forever and always be awesome. I'm totally shipping Annie/Jeff because they are just so cute in a weird, sort of creepy way.

I can't even comprehend how fantastic the last half of Season 1 was. Honorary mentions to two episodes that I absolutely loved:

1x21 'Contemporary American Poultry' was as if a mafia movie had been chewed up by satire, rolled around humour and then spat in the eye of genius. The idea was simply brilliant: revolving around the overhauling of a dirty system in the movement of deep fried chicken - a practice that involved a great deal of seducing, framing, lying, cheating, bribing and of course chicken. Lots of chicken. This thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious episode was when they stopped being a family...and started being a family in italics.

1x23 'Modern Warfare' was one of the most entertaining 20 minutes of my whole television viewing. It was quite the apocalyptic scene: a deserted college where life only existed through the sound of gun shots and colour painted bullets violently covering every surface. A boy utters his last words, "The prize...we turned on each other like animals!" It was terrifying, it was horrifying and this action packed episode left me bracing myself for the moment brain-thirsty zombies would jump out and rip the flesh off their necks.

I may have been reading too many Zombie!Fics

I am also a very happy camper at the moment because How I Met Your Mother Season 6 and Chuck Season 4 premiered today! And of course, I cannot wait for Glee tomorrow! I'm so excited, I'll probably go to bed early just so I can get rid of the night and wake up tomorrow, hours before it comes out - a plan so awesome except for its assumption that I can actually sleep tonight...

spring is in the air, the devil that is durian, community
