Really, I'm alive. No, seriously, I am! See?! I'm right here! Hee. Just been busy with the house and the hubby and the kids and shit like that. But! I dropped by to post a few drabbles before I lose them.
The taste of his lips-stale cigarettes and coffee with the slight trace of mint toothpaste-washes through him as their lips meld together. Urgency in the dark chocolate eyes, for Alex never closes his eyes during a kiss. Fingers curl in his shirt, and too soon Alex pulls away, murmuring that Leighanne will be back in a moment. Brian hears the soft cry of his infant son over the baby monitor as Alex leaves the room, and curses in inability to call the man he loves back.
His old friend looks older. He has turned into a mixture of exhaustion, alertness and bliss. The bundle in his arms looks out of place, and as Kristin sleeps in the bed next to them Nick feels as though he no longer belongs. But Kevin looks up, emerald eyes full of love, carefully gets to his feet. Without realizing how it happens, Nick finds himself holding the newest addition, and when Kristin gazes over at them, her smile tells him all he needs to know. The brush of Kevin's lips over his temple, the gentle hand on his shoulder as the baby coos, and Nick understands that he'll always fit in.
Once upon a time, it was Brian and Nick. Two crazy kids who never seemed to be apart. Then AJ suddenly came into the picture, and Howie watched in silence as Brian pulled away from Nick to make room for the alleged bad boy. Kevin's arms were ready to take Nick in, quietly attempting to fill the void Brian had left in the younger man's heart. It was odd to Howie, how the four seemed to float back and forth between each other. He stood on the sidelines, keeping his dreams and passions to himself until the night Nick stumbled into his hotel room. Drunken promises and clumsy hands soothed Howie's worries, and when the sun rose the next morning he was once again alone.
And, I'm out. I'll be back later tonight with a real update, I swear. :)
