H picks me up in her car and we drive downtown and walk 20 minutes to the crowd... [It's four o'clock now. I think I have been home for 20 minutes.] The weather was drizzling and many people were walking back. I was not looking to push too far into the crowd, but H wanted to, and I went with her, convincing myself that I really should go experience this event. A good idea. Eventually we got through the painfully slow, not too advertised line that led us through the metal detectors and into the security zone. We could see the stage, but had a better view from the Jumbotron TV that was behind the scaffolding. At this point, we were watching election results and worrying about Ohio. A guy walks up to me and says he's from Asahi Shinbun news in Japan. I decided to take him at his word and did a bit of an interview ^_^. Then we hear they want people to flow towards some emptying out zones much nearer the stage. H and I go over there quickly and find that there are breaks in the barracades, which allows throngs of people including us to get much closer. We stood there for the rest of the night. We finally see John Edwards make a quick speech. I used H's digicam to get some pics. The speech over, we start to head out. It's ridiculously late. On the way back out through the barracades, both H and I are asked to talk with a BBC camera crew. We both answer some questions on camera. Finally we get out of the baracades and head home, stopping to get Odwallas and snacks ^_^.
Between talking with the Asahi guy, seeing Edwards and talking with the BBC, I am supercharged but feeling exhausted. Sadly Kerry is in a tough position and the Networks are all over the place for predictions. The raw numbers don't look good.
gnight.
