Post the Second: The Jarring Job

Oct 06, 2009 09:42

It has recently been brought to my attention that I have been neglecting my duties at the library. This has more to do with the fact that I was not aware I had a job at all than a desire to get myself fired.

The library in this town can only be described as dismal. A word here which means, seemingly lacking in any material that would be useful to ( Read more... )

I was planning to take a look at the library tomorrow, but I was afraid that might be the case.

Yes it seems that have found another way to control what we can or can not do in this town.

It is most unfortunate. I was hoping that if I was forced to work in the library, in the very least I would be able to find some good books.

You were forced into a job as well?

It seems that I am now a florist in this town.

Yes, I was recently informed that I had not been showing up for work at the libary. Despite the fact that I wasn't aware I even had a job.

A florist, have you done work like that before?

The same happened to me. This town becomes stranger by the second.

Yes, I owned a flower shop for a time.

It does indeed.

Well at least you are familiar with your new profession. I'm sure some other people are not nearly as lucky.

Yes, I suppose that is true. You seem to take a great interest in research, so perhaps that is why you have been given a job in the library, even if it is lacking in resources.

Perhaps, it would make some sense. And even if it is strange, a library is a library.

[a rare chuckle]

The world will be quiet there at least.

Yes, perhaps I shall still come by and see what I can find to read. At the very least it will give me an idea of what sort of things they'd rather not have us poking our noses in.

I shall watch for you.

If you are going to show up, would you mind terribly helping me with a small experiment?

Certainly. What did you have in mind?

I was having a conversation with someone else before and they posed an interesting question.

In the library you can only find books that relate to you or your profession. However if you took one out would you be able to let another person read it. Even if they wouldn't be able to find the book in the first place.

If you were to take out a book from the library we could then see if I was able to see it.

[Slows down slightly as he'd been talking rather quickly]

I'm sure it wouldn't matter in the grand sheme of things. But it would be an interesting way to test how powerful the place is.

No, it certainly is an interesting idea worth exploring. I'd be happy to help. If it does work we'll be able to learn more than we might on our own.

I'm going to have to ask the mods about what would happen. mysilenceknot October 6 2009, 20:43:00 UTC
Excellent. At least it will give us something to do. When do you believe you will be at the library?

I figured you would. Let me know when you get a response. :D eldest_hatter October 6 2009, 20:51:45 UTC
Exactly.

I think tomorrow. Would that be a good time for you?

I got a response from the mods, they said is would be possible to see the books mysilenceknot October 8 2009, 12:30:09 UTC
Yes I believe that would be an ideal time.
