Today I learnt that Syd Barrett died last week: although he had long since departed from Pink Floyd by the time I came across them IThe Wall was my introduction), he must be given credit for starting the band that first got me involved in music all those years ago - The Wall was my very first record, which I would play nearly every day on my old oak radiogram and, of course, We Don't Need No Education provided a great theme for reluctant students such as myself; curiously enough, it is only last year I went back and discovered the fabulousness of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
