Picspam: favorite 'ships!

A picspam, with comments, of five of my favorite pairings. :)

This was made for another challenge at femslash_land

These lovely ladies are my original (and still favorite) OTP. They go through the classic hate-em-then-love-em transition, going from bitter enemies to best friends. Their parents want them to treat each other like sisters, but of all the emotions they have for each other, “sisterly” is clearly not one of them. They also seem to enjoy food fights, and we know from Fried Green Tomatoes that food fights can be a metaphor for sex. ;)

Plus, the center photo of the bottom row gets a special shoutout for being the dorkiest -- Sam is wearing a bright orange turtleneck and has a huge, wool headband, while Brooke has her Harry Potter glasses on. Nice.

This is the most recent addition to this list, but they’re just so addictive. Another pair that started off hating each other, but over time, the animosity morphed into wary mistrust, grudging respect, and eventually true friendship. The dynamic between Richard and Cara always felt more fraternal, but with Kahlan, there was something more. It was so much harder for them to let each other in, but so much more rewarding once they finally did. They even reach the point of fighting over the privilege to die so that the other can live. For Cara, who enjoys causing pain and is used to thinking of no one but herself, this is especially significant. Each woman becomes a better person for having known and loved the other.

This is probably the best depiction I’ve seen of a high school (well, “college,” in brit!speak) lesbian storyline. The push and pull between Emily -- who can’t help but wear her heart on her sleeve but still knows what Naomi can handle and what she can’t -- and Naomi -- the girl who holds on desperately to her independence and is terrified of really letting go -- is just wonderful to watch.

A lot of people didn’t really like season 4, but I actually didn’t mind it, even though the girls spent most of the time being heartbroken. It was real. It showed that there’s more that comes after the Happily Ever After.

And who can go wrong with two girls dancing around in sombreros and fake Mexican mustaches, and getting drunk on tequila? ;)

The dominant pairing in this fandom is definitely Lindsay/Cindy, but while the last episodes of this show were a pretty big fiasco, they also made me fall in love with Jill/Cindy. And there was a rumor that they were going to become canon. Jill definitely found Cindy somewhat annoying at first, but she quickly fell for Cindy’s charms -- even if it took Cindy getting shot in the chest for Jill to fully realize it.

Jill definitely has had commitment issues in the past, but that’s just because she needs Cindy. :)

From the first moment, it was always very clear that Cindy Thomas was a proud member of the Lindsay Boxer Fan Club. I’ll admit that the later episodes of the show had me not liking Lindsay as much, but then being a part of the WMC VS got me back to loving these two. In a lot of ways, they’re total opposites, but they also really get each other, especially when it comes to their tireless search for the truth. It starts off as just hero worship on Cindy’s part, but definitely evolves to something much deeper. They also had great chemistry on screen -- “just friends” simply don’t look at each other the way these two did.

And honorable mentions to...

Sarah/Cameron from Sarah Connor Chronicles

and Luce/Rachel from Imagine Me & You (sorry, Lena!)
