Annual Toast to Karma 52
"Morning All:
- As those of you who attended the 20-year reunion last April at Lakenheath will recall, every year, on 15 April, I toast to the memory of Nando and Paul. I sip from a bottle of rum that Nando gave me after he was promoted to Major. He and I shared a drink from that bottle, and soon after, we flew to Libya. (As you can imagine, the level of rum in the bottle is now VERY low, so my “swigs” have significantly diminished of late.) I took a bit of that rum with me when I traveled to Lakenheath last April, and all of us joined in a toast to Nando and Paul during the Dining In.
- I invite all of you to join me this year as I again toast to their memory. I will go to my liquor cabinet at 2000hrs EDT on Sunday, and I will take out that bottle of rum-the best rum they make in Puerto Rico. And, I will propose a toast to the memory of Fernando Ribas and Paul Lawrence. May we never forget the sacrifice they made.
