The blood tests Les had have shown that he has a severe deficiency of Vitamin D. This is good since it is treatable. He has to take 3 tablets of Vitamin D per day for the next 3 months at least. I googled the condition and found out that it is called Osteo Malacia, which in the elderly causes pain in the bones and muscular weakness, leading to ( Read more... )

A vitamin D deficiency...did the doctor say anything about what could have caused it?
I have noticed a definite increase in my feel-goodness since I started taking a "probiotic" pill that contains stuff to make my digestion better. It's the only thing I've done differently in the past couple of weeks, so my best guess is that it's helping me to better absorb the vitamins I take.

I do hope you were able to attend the concert and enjoy it. What sort of music will it be?

Les was a photographer and spent much of his time in the dark room. Reason 1. Also, because he has many skin cancers, and continues to get them, he doesn't expose his skin to the sun. Reason 2. Also, this winter has been so dark due to the constant rain that probably everyone in this state has Vit. D deficiency to some extent at present.

Unfortunately I didn't get to the concert, although I was looking forward to it. However, when I went to town later in the day I spent some time browsing in the garden dept. of a big hardware store. That gave my soul the same sort of peace that the concert would have provided. It was classical music, but I don't know what instrument Eddy plays. I will have to ask.

oh! Well I will let you know if he has a gig anywhere else. He needs to be there for a gig in March at the Con but after that he is planning to travel. But he often plays at the markets and other places to, so I will keep you posted.

If I get to the market I will look out for him. When Les goes away in 3 weeks time I'm hoping to do things I enjoy. Much easier when I don't have the time pressures involved in cooking a big meal every night, and if I come home tired I can go to bed for a while and rest.

:-) He was talking about playing in the mall too but I wouldn't know exactly when that is. I think he is still setting that up.

Such browsing among plants also calms me.
Classical music is still mostly undiscovered country for me although I've enjoyed what I've explored so far. I find that I enjoy a lot of celtic style music as well.
They've recently come up with a new type of musical synthesizer. It's called an "eigenharp" and it can be drummed, keyboarded, or played by blowing into. They played a couple of tunes on the news tonight and interviewed its developer. I think I'll look it up on wikipedia and then check to see if youtube has anything on it.
I can only wonder what the man who developed the harp, flute, or the piano would have to say if we could interview him.

I love celtic music also, and world music. The only music I can't relate to is jazz, and I'm not found of country & western.

Country and western I have to take on a song by song basis but jazz is something I've never liked even though I was born in Memphis, TN not far from Beale Street.
