We went off to the supermarket today to stock on some things we needed, including icecream. It was a cold morning with the thickest fog we have had this winter, so waiting around for buses wasn't a great deal of fun. I took my shopping bag on wheels this time, so that we could then easily transport the shopping down to the liquor store. While Les went there I went to Coles, the opposition supermarket to buy some of their specials. Woolworths in our suburb has just renovated, as I have mentioned, and both supermarkets at present have specials just for this location to try and take customers away from each other. I then met up with Les and we called for a cab home. The driver was a young African man, and not only did we enjoy the Soweto Choir singing in the background, but when we reached home he insisted on carrying our shopping to the front door, which we greatly appreciated.

Nick called in this afternoon, and went off for gravel to pile in on top of the drains. We assume we might see someone from the plumbing firm tomorrow, since it is the last day of the month.

I'm feeling tired, but I had a flu vaccination 2 days ago, which is probably the cause.

I just went to make toast with my new, superduper toaster and it blew the fuses. I'm not impressed. The fuse box is inconveniently placed, so hanging off the front porch with a torch in one hand was not easy, however, I know now which switch to readjust. I suppose I will have to send the toaster off to the Krups service center for repairs. Unfortunately the old toaster, which I could have persevered with for a little longer is in the bottom of the bin, waiting for collection, and not worth the effort of retrieving.
