Thursday and Friday were spent looking at sofabeds in various furniture stores around Hobart. Finally we found one we liked at Harvey Norman (should have gone there first); it has an innerspring mattress and when we tried it out seemed quite comfortable, also it is the only one we saw that looked appropriate for our house, most of them reminded me of the furniture I used to make from matchboxes when I was a small child. The sofa is a light navy blue; it will be delivered on Monday. We have also been looking at entertainment units, but have not yet seen anything we really liked. Most of them are too long for the space, or too low; I would prefer something that doesn't strain my arthritic back, bending down to floor level is positively dangerous for me. Spent 3 months having physiotherapy a few winters ago, and don't wish to repeat the experience.
I came home from Sydney feeling reasonably refreshed, but have gone downhill rapidly since I have been trying to clean and tidy the house. I am exhausted at present, but find living with the mess is just too difficult. We had agreed that when the renovations are finished we would get professional cleaners in to do the whole house, but the grot is really getting me down. We finally did something constructive on Thursday and dropped off a box of preserving bottles at St. Vinny's on our way to the supermarket. We would like to continue packing and discarding our excess, but at present I find I need to sleep in the afternoon. I'm hoping I can manage to have a few consecutive days at home, which may give me the chance to catch up a bit.
I have to schedule my final hospital research interview for next week. I have been taking part in a research project related to the fact that patients who have been in intensive care do not recover their cognitive abilities to the same extent as other patients. I am part of the control group of interviewees - my cognitive abilites are OK, even though the wheels are falling off everywhere else.
