Morsels: Churchill vs. Fields

Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.

Winston Churchill

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it.

W.C. Fields

Because of your romantic troubles? Look on the bright side: How many people don't have someones who are interested?

Yeah, it's not that simple I know, but... well, someone once told me that, if we can learn to be thankful for our circumstances in one way or another, even if they're negative at first thought, then that is half of dealing with them right there.

I was actually going to post about some of my own issues today, but maybe I'll let it be a bit?

How did you come up with "gaz25"?

No, please post. It would be a lovely diversion.

Gaz 25 - my first screenname ever... Short for Gazelle, and 25 is totally random. So I started lj before I got my new screenname, which I actually use and is much more appropriate for my personality: PrincessBlauer. So, now I use that for AIM, but I still have gaz25 for my old stuff.

Now, Heptarch, tell me about yours. I didn't separate out the hept reference until you posted your AIM name w/the 7 in there... So judging by my rusty etymology now I'm thinking it's a reference to something lds?

Only LDS in the most indirect, distanced way possible... Broken down, it only means "Seven Ruler". There once was a heptarchy in the isles which now make up the UK: seven allied kingdoms.

The Heptarch is also a character in an Orson Scott Card novel. Card is LDS, but has written some pretty intense (and heavily popular) books for all genres. If you've the time to read, I'd love to recommend.

The moldy explanation:

I used to have another pseudonym. I wanted something unique, so that it wouldn't already be taken everywhere I went. But then, I discovered it was too unique. I was the only person among six billion plus who called himself that, so it was very, very easy to track my movements on google and other search engines. That, plus the domain name I had attached to that pseudonmy became a huge, incoming spam gateway. Now I just use it for business addresses and such.

One of my still-used alternates is Virgil Ante. Mostly for getting my geek gaming fix, mind you, which I don't get much of lately. I even had a blog here under ( ... )
