All is Well

Today (after negotiations with Mischell) was Cambree's well-baby checkup. She's doing well. She's even ahead of the curve in her abilities, even if she's a bit small for her age. It makes me so proud to see that.

Today I (and one or two others) had to hold Cambree down, bracing her legs between my legs, her arms inside the grip of my hands, while they punctured her little arm and took some blood, to see if she has Celiac disease like her mother.

Cambree turned to me, her plaintive wail and the look in her eyes saying, "Why? Why are you letting them hurt me? Why Daddy?"

When they were done with their little torture session, Cambree turned and buried her face in my neck, seeking the comfort of her Daddy's arms. After I had helped them hurt her, she still wanted me.

All was forgiven.

All was well.

I clutched my daughter to me, and didn't let go until it was time for her to go into her mother's carseat.

Sometimes I think that children have more Christlike good nature in their little pinky-finger, than most of us do in our whole being.

Of course, she did get some candy out of the deal, too...
