New Years
Well, I am pleased with the party.
Tom & Anna showed up around 5 and patiently let me hang out with my baby while we waited for Mike to arrive with a nose-sucker, which he accidentally ported with him when he had to steal my car for the day. So he got home and we suctioned out Alex's nose. Anna and I went and picked up alcohol & treats. Got home and Jon was here and I learned that when Mike, Jon and Tom are all in one room the level of ridiculous-silliness / crudeness / ostentatiousness gets really out of hand. But it was fun.
We ate and drank a little and hung out with Baby when James & Becky showed up. I caved last night and had a cigarette and a half, and I intend to never have a cigarette in 09. Nathan has discovered his vocal cords and makes sure everyone hears him...there is not a polite way to tell someone that it is ok to tell their 9-month-old no. But there will be no more Nathan invites to my house for a while, he woke up Alex a couple of times with his screaming. I'm not saying that he'd listen if they said no to him, but they could have tried. 9 month olds understand no, even if they don't acknowledge it.
Louis and Elise showed up and I discovered that Louis and Tom are soulmates in the filterless mouths category. Things proceeded to get even funnier. I had a brief few minutes of too-serious at which point Jon Love reminded me that Christopher Eccleston was God and I felt happy and drank some more and proceeded to get happy-tipsy. Much good.
Anyway, I had fun, I don't know if anyone else did. Alex slept good last night. This morning he was all snotty and is just now really feeling better enough to sleep. Bad day for baby. Poor little guy doesn't understand what to do with all of the snot flowing out of his body. I am wondering just how bored Jon was because he spoke of not getting drunk and staying up all night next New Years. Or maybe it is because Jon is more sensible and was perhaps feeling icky this morning and I am just paranoid. :D
Anyway, I loved having people here and the group that was here worked very well together.
