(no subject)
So Raven and I got the second wall of the pettable plasterTM done in the front room a few weeks back. However, the room isn't done, since the damn idjuits that painted that room also painted over the wall plates and everything else on the walls. What that translated to was the light switch plates, an outlet plate, and two vents - all which were pretty much GLUED to the wall due to paint. Strike one against the unknown painters. I pretty much had to carefully pry the plates and vents off, then sand the remaining paint lines down to smooth them.
The second strike was the fact that the idjuits painted over the WALLPAPER in the bathrooms.. and while it hasn't sagged/peeled yet, I've noticed several area that are looking as though they might. Grrrrrrr. Sadly, I can't do much about those at this time, and since the bathrooms are already in need of an update, I am just going to have to settle for upkeep on them until we have the means to deal with the baths. Bah.
The third strike against the damn painters was that they covered some beautiful light-colored wood switch plates with this damn crappy paint. In the WHOLE house, only 1 of this plates managed to escape the paint holocaust. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I checked the local Home Depot for plates that might be matches - no dice. So I picked up a paint remover and decided to try it on a few of the plates. It seemed to work reasonably well - but the wood on the plates is VERY porous.. and it seems that all of my trial pieces have warped due to the moisture. *sigh* So it looks as though I may have to replace all the plates now. I'll know for sure when I check my latest attempts tonight once I get home. :p
Other than that, not much else going on. I've went ahead and bought my pass for Dragon*con this year already, and I -think- I have crash-space in a friend's hotel room. I should double-check that this week however. I'm looking forward to it, since I missed last year due to things being a bit tight.
