Met w/ John & Roy today at a park in Sw Ck for hot dogs, potato salad & Apple Pie. It was a good visit. Figure it's the 1/2 way place to meet, and was a nice get away for all of us.
This park I found is amazing. There are 2 parks in Sw Ck. One near the expressway / Miller Rd had about 100 cars at it. No shade, fairly new.
BUT the 2nd one I found, is very well hidden. It was built in the 50's / early 60's next to one of those neighborhoods with an elementary school.
You know the type, Red Brick / 1/2 way white aluminum siding, black accent trim. 1200 Sq ft, basement, no garage until it was added in the 70s.
Well, we went there, and I was expecting to have trouble finding a Grill box, so I brought a portable one, just in case.
TOTALLY EMPTY. No cars. NO people (Kinda sad is a way. No kids playing on the swings, must be inside playing on the computer.)
Well shaded. It was great. Smack dab, in the middle was this huge "burial ground", or something, about 15 ft tall, and probably 50ft long.
Couldn't figure it out, until I mentioned it to John.
He points out the obvious. "It's the sledding hill", and sure enough, that would be an EXCELLENT sledding hill.
We are now planning on meeting there for July 4th, and Labor Day. THE perfect spot!
John's had it bad the last couple of weeks. Mother-in-law, who lives with them, is in the hospital. Most likely will never come home again. The sister-in-law went off the deep end, and they ended up placing HER in another hospital. They got electricity back into the house after the fire, but John still has a ton of work to go to get that up to speed. It's amazing that he hasn't just gone "out for a gallon of milk", and not come back.
Gas prices have jumped this month. Up about 10¢ a week, to $2.54 now. Still, not anywhere near last year's mess.
Finished up w/ Valley Pet. Had them top off Roy's tank, so he now has a head start on next winter's heating season. Now if he can just get caught up on the taxes.
Threw my back out last week. That was fun. Still having some issues with that, but getting slowly better.
17:30 meeting tomorrow w/ Johnson & crew. y.a.w.n. bitch session, my favorite. Hope it doesn't last long.
Kittens are living outside now, and running all over the place. White one (currently called Tippy) is eating solid crunchies. Black one (Doc) has no idea what the fuss is about crunchies, and still is looking for the milk wagon.
72° today, not bad, but already starting to get into some occasional 80° days. Haven't used the air-conditioner yet.
Gas $2.54
