I'm curious -- anyone ever play the UK/European version of World of Warcraft and close their account, permanently? Or know someone who has
( Read more... )
Yeh. Needs to have been an active account on the UK servers, since it would've needed to have been a store-bought game and activated via the code in it. Which is what I'm missing (since the nice folk who gave me the game to install are current players - and a couple of the people I want to join. heh.)
Didn't expect to get a "yes" from you anyway, since, like, you're a US resident ;) *grin*
But! MX&HNY to you too! And congrats on the *other* thing, if K hasn't passed it on! ;)
And eh... I've read sooo much on DDO that's made me scrunch up my nose and go "Bleh. I'm not gonna buy it." if it releases in the state they're intending. The *most* major reason is because they're not including - nor do they seem entirely sure they're *going* to include - crafting. That's a straight-up "BIG BLACK MARK" for me, as far as a MMORPG is concerned. And the rest of it just makes me shrug. Not a good sign.
So. It looks like I'm sticking with CoH/V (since magent has started playing a Villain) and WoW. Nothing else out there even remotely interests me.
Any MMO, RPG or otherwise, 100% loses the "best evar!" tag, for me, the moment it doesn't include the ability to craft. But that's just me. :P"
Given that D&D3e has a plethora of "Craft XXXXXX" skills and feats, it's pure lackwittedness of the developers to "exclude it until a later patch, if they do it at all". That's a cop-out statement, plain and simple, and no more than an excuse to get the game out the door faster -- which has always proven to be a bad idea, with *every* 'released' MMO out there, so far (bar none). If you're gonna do it, do it right the first time - or at least *try* to. As-is, they just seem to be trying to get it out as close to xmas as possible, and before the half-dozen other major MMO's nearing their end-of-development phases. I'm no longer impressed.
As for the WoW trial -- isn't that US-only? Can't find a link for a UK one...
Crafting is an aside to a MMPORG at best. SWG had the best crafting system and now thats gone.
And pray tell me when was the last time you crafted something with one of you DnD characters. I have played DnD for over 17 years now and not once did I ever craft anything. I have only ever seen 1 play try and craft something and that was a powerful magic item.n The point is if you enjoy the tedios grind of crafting then bugger of to some lesser game. But for pure roleplay involvement DnD Online is the best MMPORG I have played.
Yeah, Witchie dumped SWG. She had been a little upset by the C.U., but when they made it a FPS, that was the end of the end. Now playing CoV on Pinnacle Server, Zo-ee and Alia Deathkiss. She's in a real good guild, if youse guys are interested in looking her up.
Me, I was never interested much in crafting, except for a bit of it in D2. Much happier to be out exploring/killing stuff. Aside on the DND online, played it for a few hours now, and have yet to actually talk to anyone, lol. Not the social butterfly my wife is. ;) The look of the game is very Morrowindy, esp in the character models. Barely scratched the surface, so can't determine if I'd buy the game if it had free play as of yet.
Pity she's playing US CoV -- I play CoH & CoV on the EU servers. Only US game I play at the moment is WoW.
DDO? I'm completely ignoring it until it's been out a couple of months, at the very least. With the direction they've suddenly decided to go, it's totally put me off. So, we'll see.

Oh, and you might want to post more often. ;) When I'm posting more than you I get freaked out, cuz I rarely post, lol
I am, however beta testing D&D Online. Won't buy it when it comes out, for that whole monthly payment thingy. :)
