Summary: Myra goes through a backup of letters from her parents.
Author's Notes: Compared to many of the other agents, Myra is still connected to her family (as much as a spy can be anyways) and keeps in contact with them. A little exploration into Myra’s private-private life.

Myra sorted through her backlog of letters that she’d retrieved from a box at the post office. She hadn’t been able to check for almost two months, and noted that there were many more letters than usual. Her mother insisted on writing to her on an almost weekly basis, sometimes more if anything of interest happened in her parents’ lives. She flipped open another letter and paused, reading the single line that was not in her mother’s fine script.

Myra,
Return home to China, quickly. Your mother has been sick. Old ailments. Come by caravan just as usual, preferably. An easy way is by the main road. Meet in the town square. Very fast illness, do everything to bring supplies. Time is short, remember the aid packages.

It had been signed with the Chinese character for “father”, but she realized that his script wasn’t quite normal, though it certainly was his. As she studied the paper, she noticed that certain letters had been pressed into the paper more deeply than others, though the ink didn’t show the emphasis.

Manchu. Held by Japanese invaders. Trap.

She quickly looked at the date, and noticed it had been sent two weeks prior. She could only hold out hope that whoever held her parents was patient.

In an instant she was packing, and preparing messages to the Shadows, letting them know she was leaving. She only left enough details to let them know her ability to reply may be limited, but little else of the situation. She finished the message with 'Family matters'.

She wouldn’t wait for replies before she left.

Summary: Myra embarks on a self-assigned mission.
Author's Notes: Myra begins her race to her family.

San Francisco was the hub to Hawaii and then to China. Her layover there would provide her enough time at least, to find a location to add another PINpoint coordinate to her growing list in case she needed to get back to the city for some reason or other.

Harry had covered the invasion of Manchuria, but she had not known her parents would be in the area at the time. Even if she had, warning them of the invasion would have raised too many questions to answer, including the questioning of her loyalty. The last thing she wanted her parents to think, was that she was a traitor.

With recent events, it had been difficult to find a ship that would land anywhere on the mainland, but Myra was finally able to charter a pleasure boat that would go to Hong Kong. It was better than not getting there at all, but from there she would be on her own, and have to find a way to the Northeastern part of China. If she could get lucky, she might be able to find a brave boat that would take her at least as far as Shanghai before she had to find a horse to take her across the plains into Manchuria. Passing Beijing would be the tricky part if they were under the influence of the invasion by the time she reached the area.

Her PINpoint rested in the purse at her side, she was unwilling to chance that her luggage would be searched while she couldn’t keep an eye on it. The drone of the plane engines as they lethargically flew over the Midwestern US made Myra’s ears ring. Anxiously, she stared out over the Dust Bowl, watching massive washes of dust kicked up by the winds make their way across the dusty heart of America.

The brown, dried dirt swirled in eddies and currents that threatened anyone down below. She was looking forward to leaving it behind for a while.
