There was this park near the second apartment I shared with my ex in Groningen. The Noorderplantsoen. I used to go there to just sit sometimes, especially on nice days. Before summer hit full swing it would be fairly quiet there. You could just find a spot under a tree, or on the grass near one of the ponds, or near the fountains in the center. My brief stint with jogging, which I was only able to keep up for a few months once or twice a week or so, also took place there.
I'd like to be able to sit there right now. Not have to pack the car and drive somewhere, but just walk, or take my bike, and be there in a few minutes. I'd just like to sit outside there and watch people pass by. Of course, right now it's almost 1 am there and the types of people passing by probably wouldn't want to be watched.
In some ways, that life doesn't seem that long ago or far away. Living it definitely wasn't always fun, but looking back on it, it seems somehow more appealing. Maybe we're naturally attracted more to what we can't have?
