Memorials of death

It all started about 10-15 years ago, and it's growing out of control. I'm talking about roadside memorials to dead people. I've never had a loved one die in a car accident, friends yes, but not love ones. So I can't imagine what it's like. But, to me it seems it would be bad enough to know that the person died in a spot without having to advertise it with a memorial that dares you to ignore it. At first they weren't that bad, maybe just a cross with flowers on special dates. But now they're getting to the point where they look like alters to minor deities with candles and pictures and (stuffed) animal sacrifices. I wouldn't be surprised if the damn things end up having neon signs powered by solar charged batteries. Soon they're gonna be so big and bold and distracting that the memorial to an accident will end up causing others.
