Soooooooo.... I haven't posted in a while. I'll give you all an update on my life.
I've started a new job (finally) and I love it. The people are great. The pay is AMAZING! The hours are great. The place is just great. I'm so excited to be away from that hotel and those wretched people. They sucked. I'm working at the ACE distribution center as a traffic clerk. I make enough money that I opened a savings account and I'm going to England in September. I've been wanting to go for quite some time now.
I rekindled a friendship that had been lost in high school and we're as close as we ever were. I didn't realize how much I'd missed her. Now I work with her! We stopped being friends because we had a friend that was whispering poison in our ears about each other. Shoulda known, right?
My birthday was last week. For once, it wasn't a total disaster. Me and five friends went out to eat at The Melting Pot. We got all dressed up and had champagne and a fancy fondue dinner and delicious alcholic beverages. It was a great night. Then my mom took me out on my actual birthday. (My birthday was on a Monday, so I had the party the Friday night before.) We ate at The Bonefish Grill. It was pretty good. They used way too much pepper on my Mahi Mahi. But the cremebrule was good. Not the best, but good. They lady checked my ID when I got a martini and saw that it was my birthday, so the cremebrule was free. :)
On a sad note, my uncle finally passed away. He fought the cancer for two years, but in the end, it was just too much for him. I really, really miss him. It's still hard to believe he's gone. Especially with the holidays going on. I never imagined a Thanksgiving without my uncle there. That was our holiday. And I didn't deal with the hurt on Thanksgiving. I pretty much just buried it all day by going to see a movie (August Rush, good movie) and then I spent the afternoon playing with my two year old cousin. (He discovered a jack-in-the-box and that kept us busy for at least two hours.)
The funeral was brutal and I spent more time being pissed off than greiving. Ft. Lee completely ruined it. My uncle had two requests. One: That a letter he'd written be read. And two: Have "Danny Boy" be played. Well, they totally skipped the letter and read scripture. Then they had some old man "sing", but the song wasn't "Danny Boy". They'd found a hymn to the music of "Danny Boy" and sang that instead. On top of all that, someone tried to steal the ceramic angel my best friend sent me. It was sitting on the table where people could sign the guestbook and as I was walking out, some guy was walking off with it! The only thing that the army did right was when the people at the Pentagon stepped in and managed to get the burial set up for the next week. We would've been on a waiting list for at least two months if they hadn't have stepped in. I don't know if I could've handled that.
And to bring it back up: I'm going to see HIM on Thursday! I'm so so so excited! I hope my luck continues and I get to meet them again. That would just really lift my spirits to get a hug from Ville. I'll definitely have pictures from that one to post. (I'll take an extra good one for you she kender!)
