[The Last Night: Purple Eyes ~ we’ll welcome the sun together]
The lilacs that blossomed within our midnight spring, the fireflies that lit the bridge beneath our feet, you held my hand and uttered sweet whispers of promise. We won’t forget what we said to each other. You to me are everything. Gently cupping my face, my tears flowed with your milky hand. I was left astonished as droplets of dew touched the green leaves at the riverside. It’s a beautiful sight, a beautiful dream of you and me.
“I was scared. I thought you’re not coming back!” Kouyou cried.
“My father sent me to a battle near the riverside. He wanted to test my strength. He sent me tons of men but I knew they’re just for show for they only watched me fought that thousand of enemies alone. They won’t even lift a sword to help me.”
Kouyou’s forehead kissed the other, “That’s dangerous Akira! I know I couldn’t help you but you could have at least asked for Yuu or Takanori’s help!”
Akira laughed as he gently caressed Kouyou’s ears. “So you think I’m that weak and I’ll be beaten by that small number of enemies?” his hand ran through the other’s hair gently stroking his jaw line.
“No!” Kouyou pouted. “Akira’s not weak! Akira’s the strongest but I…”
“I know you’re worried Kouyou,” Akira kissed his cheeks. “But like my father, I wanted to test how far I could go, how strong I am.”
“Why?” Kouyou’s tears flooded.
“I wanted to test how strong I am to protect Kouyou. If I’m weak, I won’t be worthy to stand next to you,” Akira kissed his lips.
“Akira said… that if Akira’s lips touch mine, it means that he… he wants to hug me. It means that he wants to be with me. It means that I’m special…”
“Yes,” he kissed him once again. “More than thousands of swordsman, more than millions of archers, more than Yuu and Takanori, the one who I wanted to take with me the most was Kouyou. It feels like I could do anything if Kouyou’s by my side.”
“Then… why won’t you take me?” Kouyou held his hand. “You know I’ll go with you. I want to protect Akira too!”
“That’s why I don’t want to take you. I’ll do anything just to keep you safe. Even if the world would hate me, even if Kouyou won’t want me anymore, I’ll give up everything for your happiness!” Akira lifted Kouyou’s chin. “Can I kiss you more?”
“I… I want to kiss Akira too… A real kiss, I mean…”
“Kouyou… are you… well, it doesn’t matter. It’s already been said, you should learn to hold unto your words,” Akira’s lips faithful savored the other.
“Nnn… Akira… I can’t breathe…” their tongues danced with each other. Kouyou’s teeth hit the other.
“That… that hurts you know…” Akira smiled. “Relax a little Kouyou! One more… no… two…” Akira grabbed the other’s waist.
“I want to kiss Akira till morning!” Kouyou crossed his arms to the other’s neck.
“You… stop acting cute you naughty kid!”
“Samurai-kun, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
As those memories flashed back, it won’t be too long as the morning of that winter come. Soon enough, it would be spring once again though there’s no sign of harmony and tranquility. Akira’s on the verge of being hurt once again. His sword kept flashing with Kojima, the one Kouyou treated as an older brother. His heart was torn apart. He didn’t want anyone of them to be hurt. He couldn’t understand what’s the use of fighting and hurting each other. He wanted to stop this nonsense. He was supposed to ran and hinder their swords from slashing each other but his means were fruitless not until Yuu stopped him.
“Where do you think you’re going Kouyou?”
“Yuu, we should stop them! Help me to stop them! Uke too, help us…”
“And kill their hearts?” Takanori interrupted.
“Takanori, how about your injuries?” Kouyou ran unto him. “Should we take you to a doctor?” He was alarmed by Akira’s sudden fall. “Akira!” Takanori held his arm.
“Don’t come near us!” Akira yelled and stood up.
“But…”
“No buts!”
“Samurai-kun’s stupid!” Kouyou cried. “Takanori let go of me, help me, please. Samurai-kun, Akira’s so stupid, your brother too.”
“I think Kouyou’s the one who’s dumbest among everyone…” Yuu laughed.
“Yuu… what…”
“Well, yeah, you’ve a point there,” Uke couldn’t help to chuckle.
“Uke too…”
“Yeah. It’s about time you open your eyes Kouyou. You know we already gave up. Akira’s love for you was way deeper,” Takanori said.
“You never been alone Kouyou. He’s always at your back. He wanted to take you away from Lady Murasaki but he knew how much you hated him.” Uke continued.
“And he wanted you to live a peaceful life too and reach for your dreams. You wanted to perform, right?”
“But he could at least tell me why he…”
“There’s no way he could tell you those things. He knew how much it would hurt you to know that your beloved family would betray you and use you only for their greed.”
“But…” Kouyou continued to cry. “It’s just so sad. I always think of Akira,” his eyes were now directed to Kojima and Akira, “No matter what you say, I’ll stop them!”
“You really don’t get it!” Yuu embraced him. “I love you. Takanori too, Uke loves you too. Everyone, even that two jerks there, we all love you Kouyou.”
“I understand but…”
“It’s for their own good Kouyou. Stopping them might save their lives but what do you think will happen to their hearts, to their pride? Kouyou, a man’s pride is more important than their life especially when they’re fighting for their heart.”
“Why are you talking like I’m not a man?” Kouyou pouted.
Takanori laughed, “Ah, sorry. It’s not like that." Kouyou noticed their expressions. Kojima’s smiling. "Just let them be, okay?”
Kouyou stared at the two, both of them were smiling, “I understand.” Kouyou nodded.
At the other side of the scenery, Kojima and Akira’s enjoying each other as opponents. Never in their entire life that they fought seriously and for something they valued. They often involved themselves into battles that other people had dictated for their presence. They’re just fighting for position not for something precious to them. Right now, they just felt the fear of losing, a feeling that tingles to their bones, a feeling of enjoyment, a feeling that’s precious, and a feeling of strength.
“You’re good!” Kojima’s sword tried to hit the other’s limbs.
“You too!” Akira avoided.
“Can I ask you something? Why did you let us touch Kouyou? You could at least stopped us if you wanted to!” his sword continued to attack.
Akira kept silent.
He let his sword do the talking.
“You’re punishing yourself aren’t you? Pretending to be invisible while actually being hurt by his pain, you wanted this aren’t you?”
“He suffered a lot…”
“Yes he did but it’s not because of you,” Kojima smiled. “I envy you. I couldn’t let go of Kouyou. I’m not a type of person to be happy just to see him smiling. I’m selfish. I want him for myself.”
“No matter how much I came to love Kouyou, I’m going to protect him!” just a second, Kojima fell unto the ground. Akira’s sword was pointed unto his neck.
“It’s alright. Kill me. If you really want Kouyou to be happy, kill me,” Kojima closed his eyes.
“Kojima…” a pair of hands cupped his face.
“Kou… Kouyou?”
“Akira, it’s over now right?”
“You’re really a hard headed kid!” Akira brushed his hair. “I told you not to intervene on our fight.”
“But…” Kouyou wrapped Akira unto his body. “I love you.”
That time, Kojima admitted his defeat. No matter what he does, even if he won the fight, he won’t ever own Kouyou. Akira had a hold unto his heart. He was supposed to stab himself when the gorgeous purple eyes were now directed unto him.
“Kojima-niisan, I love you…” Kouyou smiled.
“What the heck?” Akira hugged Kouyou tighter.
Tears fell from Kojima’s eyes, “Yeah, as an older brother…”
“Sorry but I really like Kojima-niisan that’s why I want you to stay with me. I want to stay with Yuu, Takanori, and Uke too. I don’t want us to be apart. It’s going to be selfish knowing what you actually feel for me but now that my father was gone, I wish I could stay with everyone.”
“That’s nice. You’re being seductive now Kouyou,” Yuu smiled.
“Eh?” Kouyou wondered.
“Ah, it makes it so hard to give you up,” Takanori patted Akira’s shoulders.
“Ah, I made my decision. I don’t want to give up Kouyou,” Kojima sighed and stood up.
“Eh?” Kouyou was speechless.
“That’s terrible! Hey Uke, say something!” Akira was alarmed.
“Me too, I don’t think I could ever get over with Kouyou,” Uke smiled.
“You’re really the worst!” Akira took Kouyou’s hand. “I’ll protect Kouyou!”
Takanori smiled as he watched Akira took Kouyou away, “Akira should be honest for himself. No matter how selfless he is, he should put a little effort to put Kouyou under his grasp.”
A swordsman came and told Uke about the great news, “Looks like the rebellion had already subsided.”
Kojima looked at the sky as his tears fell from his eyes, “How could it end like this? Many died but it feels like all my sins have been washed away just as with this winter snow that would melt and give birth to spring.”
“It’s because it’s complicated that’s why it’s simple,” Uke smiled.
“Do you still desire for the throne? Do you still desire for Kouyou?” Yuu asked.
“Even if it’s a fact, I won’t be able to win. My powers and capabilities aren’t enough for I couldn’t beat a love without ownership.”
“We won’t be able to separate them, a geisha that would soon be an emperor and a warrior that would soon be his lover. I’ll do anything just to protect that future,” Takanori gave his brother’s sword.
“It’s because that flower suffered just to get the dream he deserves and that man sacrificed so many things for that flower to bloom,”
“And this is how it all ends.”
---
Akira finally let go of Kouyou after pulling the other for a while, “I’m sorry, I just…” his lips were sealed by a kiss.
“I’m happy. It’s because Samurai-kun finally became possessive,” Kouyou’s eyes wandered with his surroundings. It’s that bridge where they promised their love to eternity.
“What? I wasn’t being possessive!” his fingers ran to the trails of the bridge. He sat so his toes could touch the ice that spread beneath.
“Oh well then, maybe I should go back there,” Kouyou was about to move when Akira held his wrist. “It’s okay Samurai-kun. It’s my turn to make you happy.”
“You’ll be the emperor,” Akira let go.
“That’s why stay with me,” Kouyou hugged his back.
“I won’t because I can’t. If I do, then I won’t be able to suppress my feelings. I won’t be able to let you go. I’m afraid that I’ll be selfish and devour you.”
“Then it’s okay. I want to be broken by you.”
“I killed the people who are important to you.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“I violated you.”
“It’s fine with me.”
“I’m not confident to make you happy,” Akira pulled the other’s waist closer to him.
“You could,” Kouyou gave him a brief kiss, “As long as you’ll stay.”
“Then wish for it, as long as it’s Kouyou, I’ll protect that wish.” Akira pushed him to the ground. There were no fireflies. There were no flowers. It’s just the snow that’s melting, the passing of seasons.
“Devour me,” Kouyou crossed his arm to the man above him.
“Yes, my highness,” he freed the other from any sign of clothing. Together they spent the seven years that passed being apart and together they’ll surely spend seven years and more.
“I was once very happy and now till forever, I’ll hold to that happiness again, Samurai-kun. I’m not just a doll with purple eyes. I’m a human whose heart won’t dry with the summer, won’t wither with the autumn, and won’t be frozen by the winter for I’ll forever blossom with the spring of love that you had given me.”
