So distracted that he doesn't really notice his fingers brushing over the wrong button as he sets down the device, before tossing his coat out of the camera's view

That thing is amazing.

Hardly. This is nothing compared to the one I've got at home.

How does it work? What powers it? What's the [insert long, hand-waved series of technology questions here]?

The sail functions as a solar panel. It transfers the power to the generator that works both the thrust and the anti gravity module. Which then [and insert more magical space technology here on how this thing works.]
