video; 003 - accidental.

[Now, normally Jim is a lot more careful with his SFC. He has seen these accidental posts, and he'd rather avoid the whole matter himself. Normally, yes. But today he is very distracted. So distracted that he doesn't really notice his fingers brushing over the wrong button as he sets down the device, before tossing his coat out of the camera's view ( Read more... )

[He jerks in surprise. Damnit, he hadn't meant to leave this on. His first instinct is to quickly shut it off but then--]

Reffing?

Huh? Oh, it's a sport where I'm from! You ride the waves in the air and-

[Cutting himself off because he's going to ramble and he knows it-]

Well, what you made has gotta work with different mechanics, since there isn't any trapar here, but that looks a lot like a ref board! Can you ride on it?

Yeah.

[grinning a little. He likes what he is hearing here.]

You sound like you understand this kinda stuff. Wanna have a closer look?

[See it? He can practically feel it. Renton just looks like an overexcited puppy. Very overexcited.]

Dude, if you have an accident on the carpet, I'm making you clean it up.

And sure.

Hey, that's-it's just that reffing's one of my favourite things to do back home, so it's awesome to see something like it here.

[He can't help it if he's enthusiastic, okay.]

Great! Where are you?

I'll come meet you half way. Can't show what it can do in this cramped space.

you know that field near the part? That's big enough.

Heh, I guess that wouldn't be a very good demonstration, yeah.

I'll be right there!

On my way.

[and he turns off his SFC, before jumping onto his board and zooming off towards their meeting place.]

[Welp, Renton has to settle for good old-fashioned running, so he might be a bit out of breath once he reaches the spot-]

[It's okay! He's just been chilling and waiting for him, raising his hand when he notices him.]

Hey. You came.

Of course! Geez, I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Of course.

So, you want that demonstration now? Or you wanna take a look at this thing first.

Let me think... demonstration first, I guess? If I see it in action, then that'll probably help me understand how it works when I take a look at it.

Sure. Here.

[he adjusts slightly on the board, kicking it into action once more. At first he simply circles Renton, giving him a good look at the board and the mechanics of flying it, before, well, it is time to show him what this baby can really do.

He steps back on the thrust, feeling the surfer roar to life beneath him, and then he is off faster, then higher. and higher. And higher until he can touch the top of the bubble. Afterwards, he simply lets himself fall backwards into a free fall, only activating the surfer when he is just close enough to the ground. Hey, he would want to go splat, you know.]

There. How about that?
