So, let me get this straight... are all of you from earth or something? And all human? Not a spacer or another species amongst you? Cause that is kinda...

[Unfathomably weird, yeah. Damnit, you guys. He's from a tiny planet where he can pretty much count the number of times he has been surrounded by humans on one hand.]

different.

[.... awkward teenager is kinda amusing, but for now Motochika will play nice.]

Aahh, Earth. Though gotta consider the issue of time, too.

I'll answer after you do- what're you used to, kid?

What do you mean?

Montressor. Mining planet. Nothing like what Earth was like.

Mean that some folks are over from the year 2000 or whatever. Meanwhile I ain't seen any royal live past- what. 65?

Mining seems like it'd be useful- fun at least. Anything good?

Well, sure. If everybody is already here from different places, why not add time.

Nothing worth while. Just one of those rocks that is valuable enough to mine, but not enough to make money on.

Tch. Leaves a lot to learn.

[guess which technology geek is annoyed he's suddenly left in the dust-]

So nothin' you can make shit out of? Seems pretty useless.

Nothing wrong with that.

[It would be cool if there was someone here who could help him improve his surfer.]

You can make something out of it. You just can't make big money on it. It barely pays getting the stuff out of the ground which is why it is mostly done automatically.

Fff, what- you got something you wanna learn about besides earth tourism?

Automatically.... so they got bots on mining already?

As a matter of fact, I do.

[You wanna make something of it, old man. >:T]

Of course they do. Machines and robots both.

Care to share?

[It's called curiosity. Down, Fido.]

"Of course" the kid says- Ha! That's somethin' else.

I dunno, do I? If you're amazed at machines and robots in mining ops, I wouldn't want to blow your mind here.

... It's called a solar surfer.

[. . . a "solar surfer". He has an idea but-]

How's it work?

oh god why do you make me technobabble. myowncourse August 9 2011, 02:33:35 UTC
It uses the same principles as your regular space ship. The sail charges the battery on solar power, which powers the thruster and the anti-gravity module. They are small, so they are much quicker and agile than the bigger ships, or bikes. Just a lot less protected too.

because I play a medieval science geek. it was destined. treasurehunted August 9 2011, 02:38:18 UTC
[!! Well, consider him pleasantly surprised. So he just grins.

No, he's never seen a space ship, but he can get a grasp from the description alone. Real interesting.]

Ahh, that all? Fine. Let's get you educated then. Whatcha wanna learn?
