i realize a lot of people are just experimenting and trying to figure out who they are by "trying on" different possibilities. i think it's good that they can do that. and you're right, no matter what group there will be some who are mainly in it for whatever their own selfish reasons and that will often lead to manipulation.
i'm not saying that's ok, i'm just saying that i think it's good that overall i'm glad that at least people are talking intelligently about what this guy did and how he thought, and maybe with a bit of consideration, a few people will realize that a lot of their discomfort with this is with the often hazy line where fiction can be truthful and fact can be harmful. it's an important line for people to consider.
i do agree that he did wrong things, but i think that good can come out of bad and i see a lot of potential for that in this situation, especially since it has made a lot of people aware of the problems who might never have been for the simple reason that activism doesn't sell commercials as well as a good scandal! sometimes scandals can get people involved and thinking about topics they wouldn't because of their satisfaction living in blissful ignorance.
