Dudes who are seniors! You should give to the senior class gift thing, if you have extra monies lying around! Because it is an endowment for scholarships and financial aid is awesome. Good job, senior class officials, you have come up with a sweet gift for which I am motivated to separate myself from mah greenbacks. While, yeah, it would be nice to have card swipes on the vending machines or whatever, this is the sort of thing that's actually, y'know, important-- especially if the college's endowment is getting spent like whoa and a commitment to financial aid is forcing cuts in other sectors. Ease the burden! Affordable education for all! WOOHOO!
Y'all may not know this, but I am not on financial aid and the reason is simple. I was filling out college applications and I asked my parents what I should do about financial aid. My mom said basically this: Education comes first. We can afford your tuition without going into debt or losing the house or whatever. Sure, getting financial aid would ease our burden quite a bit, and we could probably get at least a few thou off, but you should really let it go to people who honestly can't afford it.
My parents are economist Republicans.
What's that about incentives and everyone acting according to their own interests I hear? Oh noes-- education is just MORE AWESOME than that! Moral of the story: My parents are pretty cool. I want to be like them. Maybe you do too (and have the capability at current)! THUS, monies --> senior class gift.
FOR SRS, though, if you're using all your monies to feed yourself and buy books and whatnot, then ignore me. Give scholarship monies to yourself, for ice cream or something! Buuut if you've got some extra monies lying around ... :D Reminder LJ spam!
In other news, I was told recently that I am "plucky."
