I personally thought Dale might have edged out Hung a bit in the finale and would have given him the win, and I wish Casey wouldn't have finished as disappointingly as she did, but I also think Hung definitely has the chops to be considered a Top Chef ( ... )

Both Dale and Hung made dishes described as masterful, but only Dale made a dish that Tom described as "inedible". Giving Dale the win at that point would have been nothing more than a pity win. Hung won the competition out of guile, technique, and passion. Dale and Casey were worthy competitors and talented chefs in their own right, but throughout the competition it was pointed out time and time again how Hung was clearly the most refined chef in the competition.

I'm sad it's over, although now I can look forward to Project Runway in November.

while you're right that Dale had one really poor dish, I don't think it would have been a "pity win" to give it to him...he had two "wow" dishes and took more risks throughout the competition...yes, Hung was technically proficient throughout, but there were also plenty of times outside of the finale that he played it safe and wasn't as creative as he could have been...this was just my personal preference...I don't begrudge Hung the win at all...

I wish I didn't have to wait over a month for Project Runway...but I suppose it's just as well because I'm supposed to be focusing on school right now :)

Hehe...I already wrote a reply to your post before I saw your reply here. Dale was awesome, but Hung had the competition from the get go. Only Tre stood out as the only one who could have bested him, but sadly he was eliminated. Still, it was an excellent competition.

I haven't seen the finale yet, i was too impatient last night when i got home to wait the fifteen minutes until "Better Half" was over to watch the second time it was on. But I figured Hung would win.
