Just a Little Bit (Closer)
Myungsoo/Sungyeol; 522 words; romance; PG
It started out with innocent curiosity.
Myungsoo kept darting stolen glances towards his best friend’s perfect and luscious lips. He did it during live performances, interviews, photoshoots, recordings, video shootings, or even while they were brushing their teeth in the mornings or in the nights before they go to sleep. But it really was as innocent as the word could go; he was just curious how it would feel if those lips were pressed on his.
It wasn’t exactly the feeling of the kiss that he was concerned about. No, not at all.
(He had his first kiss when he was 6 during kindergarten. Their class was out playing in the ground when he decided that he wanted to play in the sandbox too, where the girl that he liked was building a sandcastle.
Maybe he was just too excited-or maybe he would just have to stop pretending that he did not have gravity issues-but when he took that last step, he just had to trip over his own feet, sending him flying straight to the girl’s lips.
Now that he thought about it, he wasn’t really sure if it was indeed a kiss. Maybe not, because that was also the first time that he shed tears for his lost front tooth when said girl did not accept his apology.)
How Sungyeol’s lips would curve to fit on his own; how it would move to be in synch with his; he wanted to know how perfect they would be if together in that way.
He had been waiting for the perfect moment to make a move for years; he didn’t want to screw it up, so when it finally, finally, finally came and presented itself in a red dress and cat ears in the middle of a prosperous concert, he couldn’t believe himself when he went all rigid, hesitating to just close that inch of a distance between his lips and Sungyeol’s.
What if Sungyeol freaked out before he could make himself move? Or worse, what if he finally lost it and just ran away and jumped off a bridge because he was utterly and undeniably an idiot?
Myungsoo knew he would never be able to live it down if he let this chance slip off his fingers. No, he had to make this count. He had to do this to quench his curiosity… right? All innocent.
So he looked at his best friend’s eyes because maybe he would find the needed courage to do it there, and indeed he did. Sungyeol’s gaze seemed encouraging, just like how a best friend should be.
Myungsoo realized Sungyeol was more perfect than his lips (if that was possible) and smiled because he remembered the concept of a whole being greater than all its parts and how it fit Sungyeol very much.
He also realized that maybe his curiosity wasn’t that innocent at all.
“You know that best friends don’t kiss, right?”
That threw Myungsoo off a bit, but then he noticed the teasing glint in the other’s smile and understood, finding overflowing confidence.
“Then we just have to be more than that, don’t we?”

A/N: Helloooo! Reading blue books does wonders with my ability to write drabble; I was reading The Fault in Our Stars when the first line suddenly popped in my head, and this just came out of nowhere. Nicci said it was cute when I sent it to her so now it’s here. I hope you enjoyed this short thing. ^^ -Chichi
