Day 5:
Woke up and tried to figure where to eat. Took the train down to PSU and decided to eat at another food cart. Lacey got some Pad Thai
and I got this torta-type sandwich thing. They were both awesome. Lacey also got some spring rolls that were gigantic and delicious. We rode a bus through Washington Park to go to the Japanese gardens. Took a nice long bus ride and went to the garden.
It was pretty big but it didn't take that long. There also weren't any animals. I think I like the Fort Worth Japanese gardens better. Afterwards we went to the Rose Gardens and got a snow cone that was pretty good.
It turns out Tiger's Blood is Strawberry and Coconut. I had no idea. We took the bus to the Arboretum and went on a walk on the trail for a while. We saw some cool water tanks with some badass graffiti on them.
Then we got kinda lost and then found our way back. On the bus ride back to town our bus driver told us all kinds of stuff about the park that I immediately forgot. We went back to the hotel and probably ate some donuts or something I don't remember. We decided to try Los Gordito's for our last dinner in town. We rode the bus down there and I got some gorditos (oddly enough) and Lacey got a burrito. I got soy curls, some of the amazing weirdness we discoverd in Portland. The food was pretty good but kinda mild and honkified. It made me miss Mexican food here. Walked down to this drinks cart called Sip that had vegan shakes.
Those were pretty badass. Blew off some Oxfam guys and decided to see Inception. We went to this little one-screen theater and bought a ticket early. We walked down to this pizza place and got some fruit soda to wait until the movie started.
We arrived to a huge line of people waiting to get in. We went in the theater and barely got seats together. Inception was confusing and kinda stupid but the ending was pretty good so overall I liked it. We went back to the hotel room and probably ate more donuts and went to sleep.
Day 6:
Woke up early and packed up all our stuff and tried to find a place to eat. We stumbled on this diner that had vegan breakfast stuff. I ate some tofu scramble, hashbrowns and sausage.
Lacey got hashbrowns and a bagel with peanut butter. Went back to the hotel and rode the train to the airport. We bought more fun snacks and used the magical free wireless internet. Got on the
plane and headed home to the amazing heat!
Portland was super fun and I would really like to go back sometime. I liked the people and the food was super amazingly amazing and there was a lot of cool stuff to do. I think I would kinda get sick of all the green environmentalist composty pseudo-hippie yuppie types there seem to be a lot of. I would also miss good Mexican food. And there was an unnerving amount of white people which was really weird. Overall it was a great trip and really inspiring. There is a lot of stuff I wanna do here that goes on in Portland. It's a small town and I think Fort Worth has the potential to have a lot of the cool stuff that it has.
