drunk kitty
last night when lacey and i got home from shooting fireworks at her parents' house, we noticed marvin wasn't opening his eyes all the way. we figured we just woke him up and he was really sleepy. after paying attention to him a little bit, he was still really drunk and almost hung over acting. i thought it was weird but didn't think too much of it.
about half an hour later, i looked at him and he was sitting with his eyes closed and rocking the tiniest bit. i petted him and he started twitching his head and tail. then he started eating and he went to the litter box and got some water, all the time with his eyes closed and moving slowly and twitching. i watched him for another half hour or so until he ran away and sat in the window and just stared. i checked on him and he was looking at nothing just spaced out. i called some vets and they said to bring him in (it was about 2 am at this point).
i took him to the animal hospital by central market and that experience woke him up a little bit. after some examination she didn't find anything wrong with him. she asked if we had any plants in the house and i told her we had a peace lily that he is constantly playing with. apparently those are poisonous and marvin ate some. she gave him some charcoal and i gave her about $350 and i took him home.
he was ok on the ride home but when we got back he started doing the weird spacey thing again. he's gonna do that for a few days apparently until it gets out of his system. he was a little playful this morning, but he still lapses back into that drunken state after a while.
so if you have a peace lily or actually one of several kinds of lilies, keep them away from your cats and dogs!
