2.20.07 - IT IS TIME
Throughout many English speaking countries, Shrove Tuesday - the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent - has become Pancake Day, as it is a custom to eat pancakes on that day. This year, that day falls on February 20th. In honor of this, the International House of Pancakes has announced that patrons on that day will receive a short stack of pancakes.
Unfortunately, many Americans think of IHOP when they think of pancakes. Five people have made it their mission to change that. On Febraury 20th, in the wee hours of Pancake Day, they began their quest for pancake supremacy. During the summer of 2008, these four brave young men (Jordan Brookman, Chris Levin, David Polakoff, and Sam Simon) and one brave young woman (Jessie Heiden) will trek across the southeastern United States for the sole purpose of going to as many Cracker Barrel restaurants as possible. The group has developed a website for what they dubbed The Cracker Crew Tour, which can be found at www.crackercrewtour.com.
An official route is expected by Summer 2007.
The group has sent out an email to Cracker Barrel, as well as emails to every late-night talk show on television. They are looking for as much exposure as possible and are willing to allow merchandising and advertising with all the proceeds going to charity. The more people watch, the more people will realize how amazing Cracker Barrel is.
