Holiday madness

Dec 12, 2005 13:23

As the holiday seasons is in full swing, I find myself with very little time and so much to do.

Given very short notice, I have put together a band for Max's Christmas party (this Saturday night)and we will have our first semi-practice tonight. That is, after my practice with the London Underground boys where we will be practicing some gospel songs for a private party (also on Saturday night an hour before my gig at Max's) then we'll hopefully be able to learn a new song or two for the gig on Wednesday.

Additionally, I've gathered a band (luckily comprising of most of the same people from Max's party band) for a New YEar's extravaganza at Legends bar and lounge. Now you may think there's plenty of time to prepare for this, but there is not, as I am leaving for Texas Monday night (early Tuesday morning, rather, on a 1 am red-eye) and won't return until the Wednesday the 28th, leaving 3 solid days for practice. YIPES!

My only fear is that it won't come together and suddenly I will be left with a very poorly constructed band for 2 paying gigs. If this happens, I will offer for the band to play for less, but this is not ideal, of course. I want perfection. *Sigh*

This week also lends very little time to hangout with Reid, which is no big deal other than the fact that I love hanging out with him and in less than a week I'll be in Texas for another week of not hanging out with him. *sigh* I thought the holidays were about spending time with the ones you care about? Why then and I spending the majority of the time with band members, whom I hardly know and whom I care very little about (only because I hardly know them, not because they aren't worth caring about). *sigh*

Oh well, 'tis the season to be jolly, right? More like, 'tis the season to be running-around-frantically-like-a-chicken-with-it's-head-cut-off-in-order-to-pursuit-your-dreams...oh yeah, this is, after all, leading to the one thing I enjoy the most. Singing. Which makes me happier than anything else on earth, hence, "jolly". So I guess I'll shut my mouth to complaining and opening it to sing wonderful tunes of the holiday persuasion!

Guess I just needed a little time to vent and sort things out. *ha*

Peace, Love and Fa-La-La-La-La, La-La-La-La!
