it's been awhile i suppose.  i guess i just haven't posted because i felt like crap for most of last week.  it bothers me that i can't function without my headache medication, but i'd really like to never repeat last week ever again.  i was out but my mom forgot to send it to me, then the pharmacy made a mistake and she ended up sending the wrong prescription...basically it was a disaster.  i felt like only half a person for 5 days.

but since i couldn't sleep, it was fortunate that i had this website to entertain me.  it streams movies (ones that aren't even out on video yet like little children, children of men, babel, etc) and tv shows so i've been wasting my time with that.  it has an impressive amount of tv shows so i've been watching some of the british office, dexter, and perhaps some twin peaks.  but i'm sort of afraid, david lynch is such a weird guy...

wake radio's top ten albums of 2006 came out in the OGB this week.  despite not liking the top ten itself, i thought everyone did a good job.  i'm still bothered that the decemberists were #1, but the OGB's formatting difficulties sort of solved that problem.  being the retarded individuals that they are, the OGB staffers decided to use up some of our space with their own "quirky and unique" choices for best music in 2006 (ugh, the fray, like that was essential...thanks OGB!).  long story short, the decemberists got knocked off the page and their blurb popped up at the very end of the life section.  it was odd.  but i'm not complaining.  you can't tell on the online version, but the actual printed paper was amusing.

also, i went to see pan's labyrinth last night and i have got to say that the mexican directors are just knocking them out of the park.  2006 certainly belonged to del Torro, Inarritu, and Cuaron.  I thought Inarritu was the weakest of the three, just because the first 2 parts of his trilogy, Amores Perros and 21 Grams, were so much better than Babel.  but still much better than the average fare.  Children of Men was amazing...this is probably the first time i haven't been seriously underwhelmed by a film for which i had such high expectations.  pan's labyrinth bothered me slightly because the fantasy element was so simplistic.  visually, it was very enjoyable, but i thought the story behind the fairy tale was almost painfully underdeveloped in comparison to the complex tale of fascism and resistance in the "real world."

i'm embarrassed to admit that though i've been there like 7 or 8 times, i got horribly lost on the way back from the Annuals show at Cat's Cradle.  saw some deer, a fox...a jewish cemetery.  good times.  i suck at life.  if only the Dears hadn't been playing, that would have totally made up for getting lost.
