Pace Is the Trick

From a day at the beach:

Purposely put yourself in situations and places that force you to realize how infinitesimal you are. Observe, reflect. See all of the people and imagine their daily challenges, or lack thereof. Then multiply that continually. Do you still believe in God?

If you're not so certain anymore, good. You're learning. If your faith hasn't wavered, relax. Allow yourself to experience what you call doubt. If you are able, pretend our lives are not predetermined. Pretend that every decision we make is our own; every action we take will form its own consequences, not the ones they were "meant" to.

My friend, stop telling yourself everything will be all right. You are only disillusioning yourself and feeding your own naivety. Come to terms with the fact that everything will not be all right. Life is and always will be a continuous struggle. You will experience fear, pain, and anger. Perhaps much, perhaps little. But be comforted by my love and the love of others. There may or may not be some all knowing power that knows everything about you and loves you unconditionally. But I am here. We are here. I want to know you. And at the end of the day, know that you are loved. Embrace the mystery.
