Which Art Movement Are You? (pictures)

You're Surrealism!"Surrealism is as beautiful as a random encounter between an umberella and a sewing machine on an autopsy table". This is a poet's definition of surrealism, one of the most bizarre art movements the world has ever seen. Flaming giraffes, animate inaminate human-object hybrids, vast spaces full of things one could only dream about. The word 'surrealism' consists of the words 'sur' and 'realism', so it literally means 'above realism'. It describes perfectly the very essence of surrealism; surrealists wanted to portray the images the subconcious creates before they're censored and "sensibiliazed" by the concious mind. This is why surrealist works of art are full of unique, imaginative, and impossible things which could only spring out of something as weird as the human mind. The beauty of surrealism lies in the uniqueness of each and every work of art, and the way it proves that imagination can conjure up practically anything. Famous Surrealists: Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte Picture: Lighted Giraffe by Salvador Dali - Dali used to say that his paintings were "more than realistic" since they portraited unfiltered mental images the mind produces, and because his technique was still realistically painted, even if they did contain noses coming from other noses and rooms which looked like Mae West. He often set his surreal scenerys in wide, enigmatic deserts, like he did with the Lighted Giraffe, and he studied supressed human sexuality which rarely leaves the locked subconcious.
