NEW Sigur Rós!

Oh wow, could it be that Sigur Rós will try to 'develop' their music into a different musical sphere ?!
From sigur-ros.co.uk:
in an interview in today’s fréttablaðið newspaper, orri revealed that sigur rós will begin recording brand new songs for their fifth lp next week. producer flood, best known for producing albums by bands such as the smashing pumpkins, u2, pj harvey and nick cave, will be joining the band in iceland to record the album. this time around the band will not be recording in their sundlaugin studio, but in a makeshift studio in a house in downtown reykjavík. the band has written the foundations for several songs already. orri told fréttablaðið: “we don’t know where we’re heading yet. at the moment we only have song ideas, which always end up changing once we begin recording them.”

Flood was already involved in U2's "Joshua Tree" (1987) and co-producer of the "Zooropa" album from 1993 before he produced the band's 1997 'experimental' "Pop". He also produced "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness" and "MACHINA/The Machines Of God" for the Smashing Pumpkins, PJ Harvey's "To Bring You My Love", as well as several NIN and Depeche Mode albums, and recently "Meds" for Placebo. If you know these albums, you'll either get highly curious about what he'll bring to the band, or highly sceptical what he might do to the band in a negative way. I find it somewhat amusing that he'll be the producer for the next album, but I like the idea becasue I am sure that Sigur will not let him take away their distinctive sound and soul...maybe he'll bring in a kind od edgier athmosphere.

sigur ros, music-blah
